SPEECH & DRAMA PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL

The ESU Victorian Branch sponsors the Speech & Drama Teachers’ Association of Victoria annual Performance Festival by providing financial support for student speech & drama prizes and for other expenses associated with the running of the Festival.

The Festival aims to give young people the opportunity to compete in a safe and supportive environment that enables them to be challenged, to grow in confidence and to develop their acting, public speaking and communication skills. Our sponsorship over several years has encouraged young people to express themselves in positive ways and to participate in the performing arts.

We have also sponsored two subsequent Performance Festivals. The 2023 Festival attracted strong competition. In 2024 the event was even bigger and stronger. The ESU's Company Secretary, Margaret Birtley AM, presented prizes to the winners in diverse age groups and public-speaking categories. She commended the SDTAV for organising such a large and impressive Festival, and joins with the SDTAV in congratulating all competitors for the way in which they conducted themselves.
