The ESU acts as trustee for and administers the Peb Oldham and Phyllis Wedlick Scholarship Trust, a perpetual charitable trust.

Using funds from the Trust, the ESU offers the Oldham Wedlick Scholarship "for the further study and appreciation of the English language".

Since 1994, recipients have received support to undertake research into fields relating to English language and English literature.

Currently, the Scholarship comprises a grant of up to $5,000 (AUD) which may support, but is not restricted to, enrolment in a formal educational course.
