The English-Speaking Union (Victoria Branch) is pleased to invite applications for its Oldham Wedlick Scholarship.
This award provides up to $5,000 for further study and appreciation of the English language.
Applications are welcome from Australian citizens (or permanent residents) with expertise in one or more of these fields:
- earlier or contemporary forms of English
- literature written in English
ESU Branch President, Robert Furlan, says: “The ESU has managed the Oldham Wedlick Scholarship since the 1990s. The late Phyllis Wedlick was passionate about the English language and its literature. Our commitment to the heritage, culture, identity and fellowship of the English-speaking peoples complements her dedication. We are honoured to be the trustee for her bequest in support of the Scholarship. Past winners have completed courses of advanced study, developed teaching skills, undertaken research and published creative writing. We look forward to announcing a new winner in late 2022 or early in the new year.”
