As the runner-up for the ESU's 2020 Junior Leadership Bursary, Abbey Lazenby of Nagambie will receive $750 to enable her to advance her leadership skills and community involvement.

Abbey’s achievements as a Young Leader include being captain of Avenel netball’s youth team; being elected House Captain at Euroa Secondary College; and organising a One Walk Challenge team that raised $9,850 to support research into the treatment and prevention of Type One Diabetes. In 2021 she was appointed School Captain at Euroa Secondary College.

Member of the award judging panel and ESU Branch President, Robert Furlan, acknowledging Abbey’s leadership achievements in school and community roles, observed: “With the help of the ESU bursary, I’m confident that Abbey will be able to further develop her leadership skills and flourish as a young community leader”.

Abbey plans to use her runner-up bursary to participate in an Outward Bound leadership program (or similar) in 2021.
