This page lists the recipients of the ESU's Minor Project Grant, an award that supports projects that contribute to the appreciation and promotion of any aspect of the heritage, culture, identity and fellowship of the English-speaking peoples. It was first offered in December 2020.

ROUND 13 - DECEMBER 2024
The National Observer - to expand the reach of this media publication and to professionalise its operations. The National Observer produces content that discusses and defends the culture, language, heritage and political interests of Australia's English-speaking population.
ROUND 12 - JULY 2024
Men's School - to help develop this educational and support network. Men's School aims to help men improve their knowledge, health, prospects for financial freedom, and general well-being.
Victorian Bush Poetry and Music Association - to support the 2024 Bush Muster in November. This annual event aims to value and encourage traditional Australian Bush culture through rhyming verse, songs and music.

Edmund Burke Society of the Riverina - to help develop this assocation which aims to intellectually and politically energise English-speaking Australians in the Riverina so that they can engage with their fellow man and with the institutions of government.
ROUND10 - DECEMBER 2023
Clarence Caddell - for publication of a volume of poems that cumulatively convey a narrative of divorce and family dissolution.
Melbourne Maritime Heritage Network - for the creation of a children's book about the history and chronological evolution of Melbourne's land-side maritime trade operations since early colonial times.

Dr Liz Rushen AM - for an exhibition about people and places in early Melbourne, as recorded by journalist Edmund Finn ('Garryowen'). The exhibition, Garryowen's Melbourne, premiered at the Royal Historical Society of Victoria from July 2023 to March 2024.
Dr Frank Salter - for a book, Collected Essays on the National Question.
Institute of Australian Culture - for the further development of online content for the IAC website.
Side Stream Association - to support its Quarterly Inquiry events (featuring speakers such as Dr Gordon Menzies, Dr Iain Benson, Dr Jonathan Cole, Dr Luke Torrisi and Dr David McBryde) and its organisational development.

ROUND 6 - JULY 2022
Professor Kate Burridge, Monash University - to support a visit to Australia by Professor Jonathan Culpeper, Professor of English Language and Linguistics at Lancaster University.

Institute of Australian Culture - for the further development of online content for the IAC website.
Dr Martin Hess - for research into two centuries of global British-based democratic policing. Martin presented his ideas on ‘Critical speech – addressing censorship and cancel culture in an age of restricted expression’, to ESU members in May 2022. His book The politics of police diplomacy: The Australian experience will be published by Australian Scholarly in mid-2025.
Philip Castle - for research into White working class experiences of the Western cultural revolution.
East Melbourne Historical Society - to assist with the cost of publishing Heritage Matters: Seventy Years of the East Melbourne Group, 1953-2023 by Jill Fenwick (2023). The book was launched in February 2023 and can be ordered HERE.
Essendon Historical Society - to assist with the cost of digitising the Essendon & Flemington Chronicle, 1882-94.

Melbourne Maritime Heritage Network - for River to Bay: Victoria’s Maritime History by Carole Wilkinson; illustrated by Prue Pittock. This children's book presents our maritime history and heritage. The book was launched in October 2023 and can be ordered HERE.
